SUNDAY SCHOOL
Story Time with Jen is being offered immediately following worship services on Sunday, April 11th, 18th, and 25th for twenty to thirty minutes. The Transition Team is engaging in conversations with worshippers during that time. Children of all ages are invited to join Jen in the gym while those conversations take place.
Watch for information about May in the April 29th Weekly Announcements that are emailed out to everyone.
Summer opportunities are being discussed. Anyone who is interested in joining the conversation about possible summer events is invited to email Jen (JenK@SJLserve.net) and/or join the Zoom call on Tuesday, April 6th at 6:30pm. Please email Jen for the login information.
MILESTONES
We have not done any of our Milestones during the pandemic. In fact, we had just finished painting chalices for our Confirmation Milestone when the whole world shut down. We were just in discussion about scheduling them, but now variants are causing concern, so we’ve paused our plans again. Right now, we hope to get everyone’s Milestones celebrated throughout the summer. Outdoor worship was such a success last year, that I think we’re fairly confident we’ll be able to do that again this summer, which would provide fun Milestone Celebrations, whatever the pandemic brings. Watch for information in May about our plan. And please let Jen know if you have concerns or suggestions.
CONFIRMATION
Classes resume on April 21st for 7th and 8th graders. Classes resume on April 25th for 9th graders. All Confirmation classes are still being held online through Zoom at this point.
HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH
The ELCA Youth Gathering has been rescheduled for July 24-28, 2022 in Minneapolis, MN. It is time to start making plans!! If you are interested in attending or would like more information, let Jen know. Have questions about what it’s like? Ask Blake Anderson, Arathi Fishwild, Heidi or Nick Fischer, Sam Immenschuh, Arthur or Theo Kooistra, Rona Lukazewski, and/or Alyssa or Rob Schmidt – they all went to the Gathering in Houston three years ago.
High school youth were attending Synod Rise-Up nights before the pandemic hit. Those Rise-Up nights are not resuming yet, but there will be events scheduled during the summer, including monthly campfires. Have an idea for what else would be fun? Let Jen know. Interested in organizing an event, even better.
