UNDIE SUNDAY: Compassion is Personal
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
The second is this. Love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no greater commandment than these.” (Mark 12:30)
The Veteran’s Outreach Team has spearheaded Undie Sunday to support Afghanistan Refugees residing at Fort McCoy, WI. Team Rubicon, a veteran-led resettlement group at Ft McCoy, is coordinating donations with other organizations. All sizes of pre-packaged/new underwear (men, women, and children), socks, and diapers are high priority items which are easily processed and more quickly available to refugees. Team Rubicon, via Amazon and internet postings, publishes current lists of other high priority clothing needed for the winter months. Those items, which tend to be more expensive, can be purchased on-line and sent directly to Ft. McCoy.
St. John’s will be seeking donations through late October. Place donations in the Undie Sunday basket, in the Gathering Area. If you have additional new (with tags) or prepackaged donations, feel free to include them. Thank you, Hillary Carr and Kari Niemeyer for getting us going with your delightful display. Thank you to Pastor Naomi (sponsor) and Thrivent for important financial support.
